Abhishek Manu Singhvi is a politician belonging to the Indian National Congress (INC) and a Senior Advocate practicing in the Supreme Court of India. Singhvi, who did his BA in Economics (Hons.) from St. Stephen's College, Delhi, obtained his MA and PhD from Trinity College in the UK and did a summer program, PIL, from Harvard University, USA. Son of Padma Bhushan recipient, Laxmi Mall Singhvi, an eminent Jurist and Diplomat, Singhvi followed in his father's footsteps to pursue a career in law. Designated a Senior Advocate by the Supreme Court at 34, Singhvi is one of the youngest to have ever been appointed a senior counsel by the top court. Notably, in 1997, he became the youngest Additional Solicitor General of India at 37. In the past, he also served as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Law. Since 2006, he has been a member of the Rajya Sabha, first from Rajasthan (until 2018) and now from West Bengal. Currently, Singhvi is also a senior national spokesperson for the Congress party.
